50 Icebreaker Questions for the First Day of School
Each year, the first day of school brings jitters and a mixture of students and personalities. Icebreaker questions offer an excellent opportunity to create a welcoming atmosphere while simultaneously building connections.
Preschool
- If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
- Why do you think we sleep?
- If you could, what two animals would you combine?
- What is your favorite game to play?
- If you could play with just one toy this year, what would it be?
- If you could invent anything, what would you invent?
- What is your favorite thing to do with your family during the summer?
- Why do you like being a kid?
- What is your favorite snack and when do you usually eat it?
- What is one thing you would like to learn how to do and why?

Elementary School
- If you could choose another name for yourself, what would it be?

- Would you rather be invisible or super strong?

- If you could solve one of the world’s greatest problems, which one would you choose?

- If you could have 15 minutes of fame, what would you do with it?
Regardless of the age or size of your group, icebreaker questions become excellent starting points to foster creative and friendly collaboration and communication.
